Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), an exemplary Republican representative, strongly criticized CNN for spreading fake news about an alleged Trump indictment in a classified document investigation. It is true that Donald Trump may have been somewhat careless with classified materials, but Joe Biden has also faced accusations of mishandling classified information, even leaving some in his Delaware home garage, which was captured on camera. Additionally, Hillary Clinton conducted her official State Department affairs on an unauthorized server, yet managed to avoid consequences.
Speaker McCarthy Obliterates CNN Reporter Over Hypocrisy About Classified Information

When the reporter attempted to argue that these situations were different, the Speaker highlighted the obvious double standards at play. He pointed out CNN's employment of individuals like James Clapper and Andrew McCabe, known leakers and liars, as contributors, despite their past indiscretions. McCabe was fired from the FBI for leaking sensitive information related to the Clinton Foundation investigation and subsequently lying about it. Clapper, on the other hand, deceived Congress about the National Security Agency's domestic surveillance operations. While there was discussion of charging Clapper with perjury, the statute of limitations had unfortunately expired.
We have a sitting president who possessed classified documents dating back decades to his time as Vice President and as a Senator. Yet he is now weaponizing the federal government to go after his leading political opponent.

When asked about the House Judiciary Committee's response to this fake news scandal and the potential defunding of the FBI or Department of Justice, McCarthy responded in a justified manner. He questioned why CNN continued to employ and provide analysis from individuals who had mishandled classified information in order to influence wider audiences, emphasizing the clear ethical issue at hand.
Let's be clear: Joe Biden authorized the investigation into Donald Trump, and it is widely known that the FBI interfered in our elections and promoted a false narrative of Russian collusion, which hampered the Trump administration. Additionally, they collaborated with Big Tech to establish censorship systems aimed at suppressing conservative opinions. The optics of this situation within the Justice Department, which falls under the executive branch, do not indicate that the president is refraining from using the extensive legal resources of the federal government to target his political adversaries.
We commend Speaker McCarthy for his condemnation of CNN's double standards and dissemination of fake news.
