Megan Rapinoe Slanders God in Vitriolic Rant as Career Hits Rock Bottom

It is no secret that Megan Rapinoe, the U.S. women’s soccer star, is a controversial figure. However, despite this writer’s personal distaste for Rapinoe, he believes that it is important to address the end of her professional career with some dignity and respect. As a sports fan, it simply doesn’t feel right to send off even the most obnoxious of athletes with a snicker.

Unfortunately, Rapinoe’s own behavior after her recent non-contact injury has made it difficult to extend any sympathy towards her. In a post-game interview, she made a vile and blasphemous statement that was far from amusing. She began by stating, “I’m not a religious person, or anything, and if there wasn’t God, like, this is proof that there isn’t because this is f***ed up. So, yeah, it just, it’s just f***ed up, you know?”

While it is unfortunate that Rapinoe suffered a devastating injury, it is absurd to question the existence of God based on that alone. Many profoundly Christian athletes and everyday Christians have also experienced catastrophic injuries. Rapinoe’s incredible narcissism is on full display with her assumption that her own injury is evidence of God’s inexistence. In reality, we are all here to uplift God and His glory, not the other way around.

Ironically, Rapinoe’s injury does offer one positive outcome – the end of her on-field career. Her vain personality, anti-American sentiments, and anti-woman views will have a smaller platform going forward, and the world will be better off because of it.
