Melania Trump Skips Biden Luncheon To Focus On Memoir Writing

Melania Trump is opting out of another White House gathering, this time snubbing Joe and Jill Biden’s invitation for a luncheon. While some might paint this as a “scheduling conflict,” the word on the street points to her upcoming memoir—a move that certainly has some curious eyebrows raised. It seems that the former first lady is far too busy penning the next great American memoir to break bread with the Bidens.

In a classic case of political courtesy, Joe Biden extended the usual invitation to Donald Trump following his Tuesday win announcement, and of course, Jill Biden followed suit, keeping the tradition alive. But because Melania’s calendar mysteriously filled up faster than a liberal’s coffee cup at a protest, she will be absent from the scene. Back in 2016, Michelle Obama was quick to extend an invitation to her, but it seems the tables have turned, and Melania is happy to stay on the sidelines this time around.

The last time this tradition slipped was back in 2020 when Donald Trump decided not to play the host after the election hullabaloo. The Democrats seem to be very sensitive about these traditions—perhaps they should focus a little more on running the country than worrying about brunch invitations.

Melania’s approach to her role as first lady has usually been more reserved compared to her predecessors. Many might suggest that her model background found her more suited to walk runways than to navigate the political red tape of Washington. As it turns out, she has already indicated she wouldn’t be living in the White House if Trump made a comeback, which might explain the lukewarm enthusiasm for social gatherings with the current occupants.

As for her future plans, Melania intends to reap the comforts of life in Palm Beach and New York, giving the White House a wide berth. In the grand scheme of things, one thing is for certain: whether it’s planning a memoir or enjoying the sunshine, these days Melania Trump seems far less interested in the political ballroom dance and much more focused on her own stage.
