In Michigan, there was a big ole protest vote against President Joe Biden this week, and let’s just say, it wasn’t a love letter. A bunch of folks who usually vote Democrat marked themselves “uncommitted” in the primary, which is just a fancy way of saying, “Hey, Biden, we ain’t too happy with ya right now.”

The Listen to Michigan campaign manager, Layla Elabed, was all fired up and called out Biden for not listening to his own peeps. She said, “This community largely supported Biden, based on the promises he made during his campaign trail.” But now, they’re feeling all neglected and stuff. They’re like, “Hey Joe, we put you in the White House, and this is the thanks we get?!”
And it wasn’t just the Arab and Muslim Americans feeling the burn. Even the Michigan Democratic Party’s Arab American caucus and the Council on American-Islamic Relations said, “Nuh-uh, Biden. We don’t like how you’re handling things.”
The cherry on top? The Arab and Muslim community in Michigan did a little poll of their own, and guess what? They found out that a whole bunch of folks are thinking of voting for someone else in 2024. They’re like, “Biden, you may have some splainin’ to do if you wanna win us back over.” Ouch, that’s gotta sting a bit for ol’ Joe!
Then there’s Professor Nura Sediqe from Michigan State University, who’s saying, “The Arab and Muslim community is feeling like they just scored a touchdown in the big game.” They’re all like, “Yeah, we made our voices heard, and now people better start listening!”
But was Biden paying attention to all this drama? Nope! He, along with Vice President Kamala Harris and the Democratic National Committee, put out some statements about the primary in Michigan, and guess what? They didn’t even touch on the whole “uncommitted” situation. It’s like they’ve got some big ol’ blinders on, ignoring the fact that a whole bunch of their peeps are feeling overlooked.
And the cherry on top of the cherry on top? Rep. Pramila Jayapal is saying, “Hey Biden, don’t you ignore this! You need to start paying attention to what’s important to your peeps, or else you’re gonna have a tough time winning them back in 2024.” Yeah, sounds like Biden’s got some serious making up to do if he wants to keep his supporters happy.
In the end, it looks like Michigan is giving ol’ Joe a little wake-up call. Will he actually listen, or will he keep on snoozing through the alarms? Only time will tell, folks!
