Mike Pence Spills: Is it Trump’s Downfall or DOJ’s Failure?

In a jaw-dropping turn of events, former Vice President Mike Pence finds himself at the center of the Justice Department’s case against former President Donald Trump. Pence, who has been desperately trying to build up a campaign for the presidential primaries, could potentially make or break the prosecution’s case.

On one side, the prosecution believes that Pence’s testimony could be the nail in the coffin for Trump. They are hoping that the former vice president will provide damning evidence that will put the Orange Man What Is Bad™ behind bars. However, Trump’s defense team is feeling pretty confident that Pence’s testimony will actually work in their favor. Attorney John Lauro, who is representing Trump, even went so far as to say that Pence would be one of their best witnesses at trial. He believes that if Pence testifies consistent with his book, then Trump will be acquitted. Talk about a plot twist!

During his appearance on CBS News’ “Face the Nation,” Pence contradicted claims made by Trump’s legal team. He denied that Trump asked him to delay the counting of electoral votes, instead stating that the president began to be told that he had authority to reject or return votes to the states. Pence made it clear that he had no such authority and that he had no right to overturn the election. He emphasized that Kamala Harris will have no right to overturn the election either when they beat her in 2024. Pence really knows how to throw that conservative fire!

The Justice Department has charged Trump with obstruction, conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, and conspiracy against rights. These charges stem from Trump’s claims that the 2020 election was stolen and his alleged efforts to overturn the results. Pence recalled a conversation with Trump in which he advised him to let the lawsuits play out and let Congress consider objections. This could be a key piece of evidence for Trump’s defense, as it suggests that the former president was willing to accept the outcome of the election.

It’s hard to predict how Pence’s testimony will play out in court. If he simply repeats claims he already made publicly, it might not be as damaging as the prosecution hopes. However, if the prosecution fails to prove that Trump believed his claims about the election were false, they could lose on some of the charges. So far, the case against Trump seems about as flimsy as a cobweb in a windstorm. But you never know what these slimy Democrats might have up their sleeves. Stay tuned!
