Elon Musk, the outspoken billionaire, has made a strong statement against the progressive left’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) agenda. Musk believes that DEI is a form of propaganda for racism and sexism, comparing it to other forms of discrimination. He argues that simply changing the target class does not make it morally right.
DEI initiatives, which aim to bring more employees from minority groups into companies and institutions, often consider factors such as gender or race in hiring policies. However, studies have shown that these initiatives can often fail or backfire. The Economist reported that the number of international business hires with “diversity” or “inclusion” in their titles has more than quadrupled since 2010.

Musk’s stance is not unique, as there is a growing list of high-profile figures who have criticized DEI programs. Bill Ackman, a billionaire Harvard alum, has called for the resignation of Ivy League presidents who support DEI policies. He believes that shrinking the pool of candidates based on race or gender is not the right approach to identifying the best leaders.
In the political realm, Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy has also spoken out against DEI. He believes that the agenda has been abused and has sacrificed diversity of thought at many universities. Ramaswamy advocates for a true meritocracy and diversity of thought, rather than focusing on skin color or sexual preference.
DEI is seen by conservatives as an all-encompassing ism that promotes mediocrity and stifles excellence. Musk, Ackman, and Ramaswamy argue that DEI is morally repugnant and must be abolished. They believe that restoring a true meritocracy and embracing diversity of thought will lead to a better society.
