Elon Musk’s social media platform, X, is set to host two town halls featuring former President Donald Trump and independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. The town halls, which will be aired on cable news channel NewsNation, will allow X users to pose questions to the presidential candidates, although specific details such as moderators and dates have not yet been disclosed.
During an interview with NewsNation, Mr. Kennedy confirmed his participation in the upcoming town halls, while Mr. Trump has not publicly addressed the events. This development comes as X and Mr. Musk are increasingly involved in the realm of presidential politics. Following the acquisition of the platform in late 2022, Mr. Musk facilitated the virtual launch of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ presidential campaign, garnering support from conservatives by reinstating the accounts of several right-leaning figures, including Mr. Trump.

Despite Mr. Trump primarily engaging with his supporters through Truth Social, a platform in which he possesses a majority stake, his relationship with Mr. Musk has reportedly intensified, with regular conversations by phone and potential considerations for an advisory role should Mr. Trump regain the presidency.
The upcoming town halls represent a significant advancement in X’s multimedia endeavors, which gained momentum following Mr. Musk’s resignation as CEO in the previous year. The platform has expanded its content offerings through exclusive video partnerships with prominent conservative voices, as well as securing deals with major sports entities like the NFL and the PGA Tour.
