NEA Pushes Mature “Gender Queer” Book on Kids, Defies Parents and Values

In a stunning display of disregard for parents’ concerns and student well-being, the National Education Association (NEA), the largest teachers union in the country, has recommended the inclusion of the controversial book “Gender Queer” in educators’ summer reading list. This shocking decision showcases the NEA’s obsession with pushing an ideological agenda, rather than prioritizing student outcomes and parental rights.

“Gender Queer” by Maia Kobabe, an author who insists on using confusing “e/em/eir” pronouns, is a graphic novel that supposedly serves as a “guide on gender identity.” Simon & Schuster’s website shamelessly presents it as a self-proclaimed pinnacle of literary enlightenment. The book originated as a painfully awkward attempt by the author to explain their nonbinary and asexual existence to their own family.

Unsurprisingly, this book has sparked widespread controversy among parents for its explicit content and blatant disregard for age-appropriate material. It reportedly includes graphic depictions and discussions of oral sex and masturbation. In interviews, the author has shamelessly defended the explicit content, further highlighting the NEA’s willingness to expose young minds to highly inappropriate material.

Despite its controversial nature and explicit content, the NEA has audaciously listed “Gender Queer” as a “banned book” on their summer reading list. This move only reveals their true intentions – to promote a radical agenda in schools, without any regard for the moral compass of parents or the well-being of impressionable children.

Erika Sanzi, the insightful director of outreach for the parents’ rights organization Parents Defending Education (PDE), rightly calls out the NEA’s skewed priorities. She notes that the NEA has prioritized race and gender over student outcomes and parental concerns, leading to a divisive and inappropriate reading list. Many members of the NEA are likely to find “Gender Queer” entirely unsuitable for a school setting, yet the union remains committed to pushing its radical agenda.

NEA President Becky Pringle recently shared her distorted vision of education, asserting that “education justice must be about racial justice, it must be about social justice, it must be about climate justice.” These words are merely a thinly veiled attempt to justify the NEA’s blatant politicization of education. Instead of focusing on providing students with a quality education, the NEA is more interested in indoctrinating them with a progressive ideology.

It is high time that parents and concerned citizens stand up against the NEA’s misguided agenda. Our children deserve better than a limited education that prioritizes political correctness over critical thinking and moral values. The NEA’s choice to champion “Gender Queer” exemplifies their dereliction of duty to our nation’s youth, and it is imperative that we demand a return to sanity and academic excellence in our schools.
