Newsom Betrays American Workers Begs for Hollywood Bailout Over Tariffs

California’s Governor Gavin Newsom has once again shown he’s more interested in preserving Hollywood’s cozy, globalist gravy train than standing up for American workers and a truly American economy. When President Trump proposed slapping a 100% tariff on movies filmed overseas, aiming to bring film production back to U.S. soil, Newsom responded like the corporate limousine liberal he is: begging for billions in taxpayer-funded handouts instead of backing common-sense policies that protect American jobs.

This isn’t some small disagreement over policy. The Left’s Hollywood studios have spent decades shipping American jobs to Canada, South Africa, and anywhere else with cheaper labor and looser rules. Then they parade around acting all “woke” while stuffing their pockets and sending profits overseas. Trump’s tariffs hit right where it hurts — targeting the studios’ un-American addiction to outsourcing. Unsurprisingly, blue-collar unions like the Teamsters cheered because they know tariffs mean real jobs for working Americans instead of cheap foreign labor.

But Newsom? Rather than backing hardworking Americans, he doubled down on pandering to Hollywood’s elite donors. Instead of embracing tariffs or even the barest nod to American economic patriotism, he tried to negotiate massive federal tax credits—a whopping $7.5 billion bailout on top of California’s existing $750 million state film tax credit. In other words, Newsom wants taxpayers nationwide to bankroll Hollywood’s global freeloading. This isn’t leadership; it’s capitulation fueled by political cronyism.

More galling still, Newsom’s hypocrisy is staggering. This same governor angrily sues the Trump administration 15 times within a hundred days, demands millions for illegal immigrant legal aid, and begs for federal disaster relief—all while refusing to genuinely support policies that could rebuild California’s struggling industries from within. He’s perfectly happy bleeding taxpayers dry so long as Hollywood tycoons stay fat and happy piping their propaganda through the green screen, rather than investing in American workers and communities.

Meanwhile, conservatives like Oscar-winning actor Jon Voigt work quietly to push real reforms that foster more homegrown production. But Newsom and his Democrat pals, including the silence of longtime Hollywood mouthpiece Sen. Adam Schiff, clearly want nothing to do with any policy that doesn’t line their own pockets or serve the globalist agenda. It’s time to call out this shameless anti-Americanism masquerading as “support” for the entertainment industry. If California’s leadership truly cared about its citizens, it would let Trump’s tariffs do their job instead of rigging the system with partisan giveaways.

Is Hollywood a cultural powerhouse or a parasite on the American taxpayer sucking the life out of our economy? So long as liberal elites run the show, expect more of the same old stunt—selling out the American worker for cheap shots at conservative leadership and more taxpayer-funded bailouts. When will the Left stop taking America’s greatness for granted—and start fighting for real American jobs?
