In a stunning display of political grandstanding, Governor Newsom has proposed a new amendment to the United States Constitution that would infringe upon the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding gun owners. His so-called “mechanism to address despair” is nothing more than a thinly veiled attempt to criminalize the exercise of fundamental rights by Americans who value their liberty and freedom.
In his proposal, Newsom spouts tired and debunked talking points about modern sporting rifles being a “threat to public safety.” However, anyone with a basic understanding of firearms knows that these rifles are used in a small fraction of gun crimes. This is just another example of the left demonizing a particular firearm for political gain.
Furthermore, Newsom is calling for universal background checks, which would do nothing to prevent criminals from obtaining firearms through illegal means. It would only serve to burden law-abiding citizens who wish to exercise their constitutional rights.
The proposal is not only misguided, but it also goes against the very principles upon which this country was founded. Newsom is attempting to use tragedies and the emotions of the American people to push his own political agenda – an agenda that is rooted in government control and disarmament of law-abiding citizens.
Fortunately, the Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC) has spoken out against Newsom’s proposal, stating that it is nothing more than a “failed policy.” They recognize that Newsom’s attempts at imposing his immoral policies on the entire nation are nothing more than an act of desperation. The FPC is calling on all Americans who oppose state violence to wake up and fight back against this blatant violation of their rights.

In conclusion, Governor Newsom’s proposed amendment to the Constitution is nothing more than a power grab by a desperate politician who is willing to use tragedies and fear-mongering to push his own agenda. This is a wake-up call to all Americans who cherish their freedom and the Constitution; now is the time to stand up and fight back against those who seek to infringe upon our rights.
