NFL Punter Cut, Later Proven Innocent: ‘Me Too’ Gone Wrong!

Matt Araiza, who used to kick for the Buffalo Bills, was accused of taking part in a gang rape while he was at San Diego State. Before the official start of the NFL season in 2022, the Buffalo Bills cut Araiza because of the accusations. Before letting him go, the team carefully looked into the situation, but in the "Me Too" era, it has become the norm to err on the side of caution instead of checking the facts. A few months later, the truth came out: Araiza was not guilty, and she wasn't even there when the claimed rape happened. In fact, prosecutors said that Araiza was not at a party in October 2021 where a minor was said to have been gang-raped. This was based on statements from witnesses, which led the San Diego District Attorney to decide not to press criminal charges against him.

It's a bad thing about the "Me Too" movement that women can lie about being raped. People pay a lot of attention to these claims, especially when they involve the media and professional sports. Those who play this sick, twisted game at the cost of real rape victims can also make money by being victims. The slogan was "believe all women," but it didn't last long when many liberal guys got caught up in the chaos. Then, some people chose to play the "Me too" card by saying that bad dates were the same as sexual assaults. This growing number of false charges makes it hard for real victims to get justice.

The 2006 Duke Lacrosse team knows this all too well, as they were the victims of a false rape claim and a corrupt local lawyer who was willing to risk the lives of these young men to get re-elected. It looks like Mr. Araiza was fooled by a woman who was good at making up stories. This has happened before. In 2014, Rolling Stone and one of its writers, Sabrina Rubin Erdely, were sued and found guilty of libel for a story about the supposed gang rape of "Jackie" at the University of Virginia, which never happened.

As Mr. Araiza plans to sue the lawyer for the woman who made the false accusation against him, it's important to remember that women are just like the rest of us and can be greedy, manipulative, dishonest, and cruel. With the rise of social media, it's no longer true that such a damaging accusation would never be brought up unless the claimed victim was telling the truth. We should stop making assumptions and start looking for the truth instead of trying to ruin people's lives without all the facts.
