Nikki Haley Dominates Polls in Crucial Early State: Unstoppable Rise?

Nikki Haley is making waves in Iowa, as a recent poll shows her gaining support among GOP caucusgoers by a whopping 10 points since August. According to the Des Moines Register/NBC News/Mediacom poll, Haley is now tied for second place with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis at 16%, while former President Donald Trump maintains a strong lead with 43% support.

The poll reveals some interesting shifts in the rankings. While Haley’s support surged from 6% to 16% in just two months, DeSantis saw a slight dip of 3 points. Trump, on the other hand, experienced a mere 1-point increase. South Carolina Senator Tim Scott dropped by 2 points and now sits in third place with 7% support.

Other notable contenders in the Iowa caucus include former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and conservative businessman Vivek Ramaswamy, who both received 4% support. Christie’s support dropped by 1 point, while Ramaswamy’s remained steady. North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum saw a modest increase of 1 point, garnering 3% support in the crucial early state. Former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson, who wasn’t even on the radar in the August survey, managed to secure 1% support.

Haley’s rising momentum is not limited to Iowa. In October, she surpassed DeSantis in a New Hampshire survey, securing second place with 19% support. Additionally, a Winthrop University survey revealed that Haley trailed only Trump in her home state of South Carolina, with 16% support. In Nevada, a Tarrance Group survey showed her with 8% support, trailing Trump’s 60% but surpassing Ramaswamy and DeSantis who garnered 11%.

Looking at the broader picture, the RealClearPolitics average for the 2024 national Republican primary indicates that Trump is leading the field by a staggering 47 points. DeSantis follows with 12.6% support, while Haley comes in third at 8.3%. Ramaswamy has secured 4.5% support, and former Vice President Mike Pence, who recently suspended his campaign, sits at 3.5%. Christie received 2.4% support, while Scott garnered 1.6%. All other contenders are polling at less than 1% support.

It’s important to note that this poll was conducted by the Des Moines Register/NBC News/Mediacom and surveyed 404 likely Republican caucusgoers in Iowa between October 2 and October 26, with a margin of error of 4.9%. Meanwhile, Haley, Trump, and DeSantis have not yet responded to requests for comment from sources such as the Daily Caller News Foundation.

As the countdown to the 2024 primary season begins, it appears that Haley’s star is on the rise. With strong showings in multiple early primary states and a significant increase in support among GOP caucusgoers, she is certainly positioning herself as a top contender. Only time will tell if she can maintain this momentum and challenge Trump’s commanding lead.
