The latest outburst from New York City’s liberal comptroller and failed mayoral hopeful reveals exactly how out of touch the Left has become with reality and common sense. Brad Lander is whining about his arrest by ICE agents, claiming President Trump is ratcheting up conflict to turn America into some sort of “police state.” Let’s call this what it is: a desperate political stunt by a radical leftist who wants to weaponize law enforcement for his own virtue-signaling purposes while painting the men and women protecting our borders as villains.
Lander’s theatrics smack of the typical liberal playbook—blame Trump for everything and dress up open borders advocacy as a noble fight for human rights. He hoped to waltz out of an ICE facility with illegals, ignoring the fact that these agents are doing their jobs to uphold the law. Instead, he chose to escalate tensions, then lament conflict while poking the bear himself. It’s a classic liberal paradox: demand lawlessness, then cry oppression when law enforcement pushes back.
What’s truly dangerous here is the Left’s relentless effort to undermine agencies like ICE. By casting them as oppressors intent on dragging the country toward a “police state,” they erode trust in institutions that are crucial for law and order. Meanwhile, major cities like Los Angeles are rotting under decades of progressive policies, plagued by crime waves and homelessness crises. Their solution? This isn’t about “escalating conflict” from Trump; it’s about a lawless ideology that wants to rip apart the fabric of American society. Trump sending the National Guard to LA wasn’t to turn America into an authoritarian nightmare. It was to restore order where liberals let it collapse. That’s leadership. Lander and his ilk would rather see our country fall apart, score political points, and shout about “conflict” than support the hard-working Americans who keep us safe.
If protecting America from the chaos of open borders and criminal infiltration is “ratcheting up conflict,” then fine. We need more conflict with those who endanger our sovereignty and safety. But if Lander thinks America is sliding toward a police state because we enforce laws, maybe he should try living in an actual authoritarian regime and see how that feels. Until then, let’s stop letting leftists rewrite what law and order even mean. America deserves better than this toxic, hypocritical nonsense.
