NYC Mayor Denies Decades-Old Harassment Claims, Pledges Justice

During a recent press conference, Eric Adams, the mayor of New York City, categorically rejected the sexual assault allegations contained in a lawsuit against him, stating unequivocally that the alleged incidents "simply did not transpire." Since the lawsuit was filed earlier this week, Adams has not addressed the allegations in public until now. With this brazen statement, he emphasizes that he has no recollection of ever meeting the accuser, Lorna Beach-Mathura.

A former police officer, Adams, stated at the press conference that his life has been candidly documented for almost four decades, emphasizing his public image and dedication to maintaining the dignity that the citizens of New York anticipate from their mayor. Adams, while reiterating his steadfast endorsement of efforts to combat police misconduct and advocate for individual rights, provided reassurance to the public that his attention remains on his responsibilities as the mayor of New York City and that the litigation would be appropriately managed by his legal team.

Adams is charged with predatory conduct in the litigation, which was initiated in the New York Supreme Court more than three decades ago. Beach-Mathura claims that Adams coerced her into performing sexual favors in return for assistance in her professional progression, and then behaved improperly when she declined. The grave accusations have tarnished Adams's reputation, characterizing him as a "predator" in direct opposition to the heroic persona he has nurtured.

These allegations have been exposed on multiple occasions since their initial appearance in November. During that period, the mayor's legal team vigorously denied the accusations, restating Adams's complete denial of the slanderous claims detailed in the lawsuit.

Beach-Mathura's filing of the legal summons under the Adult Survivors Act is significant. This legislation grants survivors of sexual misconduct a one-year timeframe to initiate legal proceedings, contrary to the conventional one-year statute of limitations. It is worth noting that author E. Jean Carroll employed the exact same legal strategy in her litigation against former President Donald Trump, which resulted in a significant monetary judgment in favor of the plaintiff.
