NYC Parents Revolt as Mayor Plans to House Illegals in Grade Schools

Title 42’s expiration has led to a deluge of illegal aliens surging towards the United States-Mexico border. Unfortunately, this outpour is leaking into Democrat-led “sanctuary cities,” including the infested cesspool of New York City. The Big Apple had initially intended to house illegal aliens seeking asylum in twenty public schools, Mayor Eric Adams announced on Tuesday. However, Adams stressed that this was not where City Hall wished to take this kind of drastic step, declaring that “we are out of space,” and “nothing is off the table as we work to fill our moral mandate.”

Adams’ office had identified at least seven schools in Brooklyn, covering pre-kindergarten through eighth grade, to house migrant children: P.S. 188 in Coney Island; P.S. 172 in Sunset Park; P.S. 189, and P.S. 132 in Crown Heights; P.S. 17, M.S. 577, and P.S. 18, in Williamsburg. However, the city has reportedly backed off from the idea after consecutive parent-led protests. A source within the city government told the New York Daily News that the city government is “moving away from the school sites for now, but reserve the right to use them again if they can’t handle the influx.”

It is unsurprising that parents would be concerned about having unvetted, full-grown men, who are not authorized to be in America, hailing from who knows where on school grounds indefinitely. Parents raising alarm argued that their presence would disrupt learning and halt student programming. For example, over at M.S. 577 and P.S. 17, whose shared gym site was being prepared to host a potential horde of single adult males, outdoor after-school activities would have been axed, given that the gymnasium itself backs onto the playground.

Parents argued that the aliens should be bunking with the elected officials who called to put them near grade-school children. “Put them in their backyards because you’ve dumped on us long enough,” one parent said to ABC7 News. Given the backlash from the community, caregivers, fearful of what their children may be subjected to, had refused to drop off their children at school. “I’m not sending my kids to school because at the end of the day there could be pedophiles coming in. There could be people trying to kidnap our kids. They could have weapons. They could have drugs. They could have anything,” CBS2 quoted a parent saying.

Since Title 42 expired, 65,000 asylum seekers, including 4,200 in the past week alone, have swarmed into New York City. City officials expect an additional fifteen busloads of illegal aliens to arrive in the coming weekend. Illegal immigrants overcrowd buses that are sent to Adams’ jurisdiction, courtesy of the Republican Texas Governor Greg Abbott, even as his state contends with an influx of illegal aliens daily.

In conclusion, Mayor Adams should consider the safety of school-going children and prioritizing city residents instead of accommodating aliens who should not even be here in the first place. Municipal and state authorities should intervene to prevent such incidents from recurring. The aliens should be deported, and America’s borders made secure to prevent such past occurrences from repeating themselves.
