In a recent appearance on Fox News’ “The Ingraham Angle,” Trump lamented the overt mockery displayed during the ceremony and pointed out that millions of Catholics and Christians are likely shaking their heads in disbelief. Instead of honoring a sacred moment in Christianity, the organizers opted for what many see as a political stunt, elevating theatrics over tradition. It’s questionable whether the values showcased at these grand sporting events are reflecting what true athletes and their fans would want to see.

According to him, a depiction of the Last Supper like the one witnessed in Paris would not be on the agenda for the West Coast. Apparently, the French love to push the envelope, but it’s a whole different game when you’re dealing with U.S. values and audiences.
Trump’s emphasis on being “open-minded” is quite reminiscent of a parent trying to make sense of their rebellious teenager’s latest escapades — you can be understanding, but sometimes boundaries must be enforced. This time, he made it clear that this wasn’t up for discussion; there’s a line that shouldn’t be crossed, especially when it comes to respecting religious beliefs. The former president has been known to champion the idea that American culture should uphold its traditions without succumbing to radical reinterpretations by artistic elites.
It’s remarkable how, even in the glamorous world of international sports, basic respect for cultural landmarks gets tossed aside in favour of avant-garde expressions that shock the masses. Perhaps this should serve as a wake-up call to both Olympic organizers and the broader cultural landscape. The upcoming L.A. Games may need more than just sunshine and Hollywood glitz; there may be a need for a return to the respect and dignity that sports and culture should embody—a stark contrast to what Paris demonstrated.
