Pat Robertson, 93, Leaves Legacy of Faith & Impact

Pat Robertson, the Christian televangelist who founded Regent University, passed away earlier this week at the age of 93. While there are those out there that relish in the death of anyone related to conservative Christianity, Robertson left a lasting impact on the world through his many organizations and ministries.

Regent University is one of the many organizations Robertson founded. The School of Law at Regent is famous for its unique approach to education, offering slightly longer classes that allow for devotional time at the beginning of each class. This unique system is a testament to Robertson’s steadfast faith and desire to blend education with spiritual growth.

Professor at Regent University also understand Robertson’s lasting legacy. During one accreditation process, a professor jokingly pulled out one of Robertson’s books and pretended to have it as required reading for the class. While the ABA audit team may not have appreciated the humor, it was a lighthearted testament to the lasting impact Robertson had on the institution.

Robertson wasn’t just known for Regent, however. He founded many other organizations such as The 700 Club, Operation Blessing, International Family Entertainment, The Flying Hospital, the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ), and The Christian Coalition. These organizations will continue to bless people around the world thanks to Robertson’s vision and faithfulness.

Those that attended Regent University have a unique experience that is deeply rooted in Robertson’s faith and mission. With his house as a backdrop for their flag football games and the opportunity to visit the set of The 700 Club, students are reminded of Robertson’s influence on the campus every day. His impact will continue to be felt for generations to come.

In a world where conservative Christians are often vilified, it is important to remember the good that people like Pat Robertson can accomplish. He was a faithful servant who ran the good race and left a positive legacy that will impact the world for years to come. As a Regent alumnus, the writer is thankful and indebted to Robertson and prays that he and others can continue to change the world through Christian leadership.
