The New York Times reported that not only is the U.S. working on these killer machines, but countries like China and Israel are also in the race. Critics are all riled up about the potential deployment of these “killer robots,” raising concerns about machines taking over life-and-death decisions on the battlefield.
But hold on just a minute! Several countries are pushing the United Nations to pass a resolution banning these AI killer drones. Yet, the United States, along with Russia, Australia, and Israel, are standing firm against the proposed resolution. That’s right, America is not about to be lectured by a bunch of other countries about how to defend itself!
The Deputy Secretary of Defense, Kathleen Hicks, laid it all out in an August speech. She explained how these AI drones would even the playing field against China’s massive army. And we can’t have our adversaries thinking they have the upper hand, can we?
But even the Air Force secretary, Frank Kendall, made it crystal clear that these AI drones would still require human supervision. So, relax everyone, the good old U.S. of A. is always going to be in control.
Some critics are freaking out about the use of AI-powered drones in conflicts, like the recent use by Ukraine against Russia. But aren’t they missing the point? We need to have the best technology to protect American interests, no matter what kind of propaganda the liberals are trying to feed us.
Also, who doesn’t love a little Hollywood drama in this debate? The Campaign to Stop Killer Robots is even invoking “Black Mirror” and “Night of the Living Dead” to scare people. But let’s not get all wrapped up in the newest episode of a TV drama, folks!
And remember, AI is not just for the military. We have AI technology being used to keep us safe right here at home. The Los Angeles Police Department recently used a robot dog to end an armed standoff. And we have AI-powered drones being used for public safety and even helping locate missing people.
So, let’s not get caught up in the fear-mongering. Yes, AI has the potential to be dangerous in the wrong hands, but in the hands of the U.S. military and law enforcement, it’s a force for good.
