The facts around the attack are grim and now part of the public record, and Americans deserve straight answers and accountability.
Authorities quickly identified and charged a suspect, and Utah prosecutors have moved with seriousness, even indicating they will seek the harshest penalties available given the political nature of the crime. This was not some random act of misfortune; prosecutors say the shooter targeted Charlie because of his political expression, and the legal system must respond accordingly to send a clear message that this behavior will not be tolerated. Families, campus communities, and the millions who admired Kirk demand justice, not platitudes.
On the airwaves, Rob Finnerty and other conservative voices rightly called out the left’s casual, poisonous reaction — an unsettling attempt by some on the left to romanticize or rationalize the murderer’s motives rather than confront the evil of political assassination. Law enforcement has pursued leads aggressively and the manhunt and prosecution must be thorough and swift so other would-be attackers see there is no reward for murdering a political opponent. Conservatives will fight for the safety of our leaders and our rallies, and we expect the justice system to treat this as the political crime it plainly is.

His widow, Erika, has stepped into leadership at Turning Point, and patriotic institutions are already considering ways to honor his sacrifice while pushing back against the culture of violence. Now is the time for conservatives to stand tall, demand accountability, and rebuild a public culture that cherishes life, liberty, and the courage to speak out.
