Poll Shows 61% Blame Biden’s Words for Attack on Trump

If anyone needed another example of how the left’s unchecked rhetoric leads to disastrous consequences, look no further than the recent assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump. Apparently, 44% of likely voters believe that President Joe Biden’s relentless attacks on Trump led directly to this violent act in Butler, Pennsylvania. Biden, who loves to play the innocence card, has spent the last three years badmouthing Trump, warning us that re-electing him would spell doom for our democracy. Meanwhile, a lone 20-year-old rifleman took it upon himself to try to silence Trump once and for all.

The latest Rasmussen Reports survey highlights a fascinating trend: Biden’s divisive rhetoric is backfiring spectacularly. The poll revealed that 61% of voters agree with the assessment that Biden’s inflammatory language is partially to blame for the attempt on Trump’s life. Biden’s flimsy excuse doesn’t fool voters that he only wanted Trump in the “bullseye,” not the “crosshairs.” Seems like voters understand that this is a difference without distinction.

J.D. Vance, newly minted as Trump’s running mate, has aptly described Biden’s campaign strategy as branding Trump an authoritarian fascist who must be stopped at all costs. That’s the kind of language that seems to destabilize more than it persuades, considering that a substantial 41% of likely voters believe rhetoric triggered the rifleman’s actions. Another 40% blame it on mental health, but the link between heated political attacks and violent actions can’t be ignored.

In case anyone needed more ammo to see how corrosive left-wing rhetoric can be, enter conservative activist Tammy Bruce and her new book, “Fear Itself.” She argues that years of venomous anti-Trump discourse have normalized hatred and might even serve as a trigger for the unstable among us. Her book and the Rasmussen poll together paint a chilling picture of how words can lead to violence. Her assertion that the attempt on Trump’s life was inevitable is hardly headline material for anyone who’s watched Biden’s aggressive narrative unfold.

When political rhetoric becomes a dangerous game, it’s no surprise that someone might take the hyperbole literally. While investigators continue to probe the specifics behind the attack, one thing remains clear: when leaders fuel the fire with incendiary talk, the flames reach unpredictable and often tragic heights. After all is said and done, it is precisely this kind of reckless rhetoric that makes the Trump campaign seem even more appealing to voters who are tired of the left’s destructive narratives.
