Poll Shows Only 25% View Biden as Good President, Lagging Behind Trump, Obama

New polling data presents a less-than-rosy picture of Joe Biden’s presidency, sparking questions about his effectiveness and whether he might qualify for one of those participation trophies beloved by progressives. According to a recent survey conducted by The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, a mere 25% of Americans rated Biden as a “good” or “great” president. In a stunning twist, this places Biden significantly below his immediate predecessors, Trump and Obama, who managed to win over larger segments of the population before exiting the stage.

Digging into the numbers, it appears that even among the loyal Democratic base, the enthusiasm for Biden is hardly electrifying. A mere 10% of Democrats regarded him as a “great president,” while the rest seem to be settling for a “good—enough” rating. Meanwhile, in sharp contrast, Trump’s final approval rating, as reported four years ago, stood at 36% for “good” or “great.” Obama didn’t do much worse, garnering 52% approval when he departed. It seems that Biden’s transition from Obama’s vice presidency to the big chair has had a few unwelcome bumps along the way.

The poll doesn’t just celebrate mediocrity; it also exposes a clearer trend of discontent among Americans. Almost half the respondents, at 47%, graded Biden as a “poor” or “terrible” president. Contrast this with the end of Trump’s first term, who saw about 49% of respondents give him a similar thumbs down. It seems Biden’s time in office is inspiring more groans than any prior presidency.

Interestingly, Biden’s middle-of-the-road rating falls at 28% of adults viewing him as “average.” This is a notable improvement over Trump’s 15% in the same category—a small consolation for Democrats who’ve soured on the leadership of their current president. Among the all-important independents, about one-third believe Biden lands in the “average” range, but only 10% shower him with praises of “good” or “great.”

The overall trend of dissatisfaction is echoed in another poll by Gallup, which found that a staggering 54% of Americans categorize Biden as either “poor” or “below average.” As the data rolls in, it seems clear that achieving the presidential status of being “the leader of the free world” may not come as easily for Biden as it once did for his predecessors. For conservatives, this paints a clear picture: it’s time to bring some solid leadership back into the Oval Office—preferably a leadership that does not involve a process of effective instruction from the teleprompter.
