The new “Rabbis for Zohran” video is a pathetic, cynical attempt to whitewash a record of radicalism that ordinary New Yorkers should never accept. What the slick ad tries to do — dressing up political theater as spiritual endorsement — is obvious to anyone paying attention: a handful of progressive clergy are being used to paper over a history of troubling statements and associations.
Look closely and you see the scam: the clip was produced with far-left groups and features self-described, left-wing clergy whose politics align with Mamdani more than with traditional Jewish communal concerns. This is virtue-signaling theater, not the kind of sober, communal guidance that should be offered from a pulpit to sway voters; it’s an attempt to neutralize honest questions about his stance on Israel and public safety.
And the questions are not hypothetical. Mamdani has a track record of supporting BDS and ducking responsibility on inflammatory phrases like “globalize the intifada,” and he has repeatedly failed to offer the clear, unequivocal condemnations voters expect from public servants. For decades conservatives and mainstream Jewish leaders have warned that ambiguity on such matters is not mere rhetoric — it signals an ideological posture that can endanger communities.
This isn’t just about old tweets or bad messaging. Staff and associates tied to his orbit have been caught on camera praising “jihad” as activism, and fresh reporting has raised questions about connections and moral judgments going back years. Those are not the kind of people whose endorsements should be waved around as proof of mainstream respectability; they’re red flags, plain and simple.
Patriotic Americans — Jewish and non-Jewish alike — should see through this calculated PR stunt. When over a thousand rabbis and mainstream community leaders publicly voice alarm, you don’t shrug and accept a few woke megaphones calling it balance; you ask hard questions and demand accountability before a city’s future is gambled away. The ad is an insult to voters and to the real religious leaders who care about safety, freedom, and the rule of law.
