Progressives Reluctantly Praise Trump For Israel Hamas Ceasefire Success

The progressive left is having a bit of a moment as they begrudgingly shift their praise to President-elect Donald Trump for playing a pivotal role in a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas. Just days from his return to the Oval Office, these formerly fierce critics of Trump seem ready to admit that perhaps, just perhaps, the previous administration’s foreign policy left something to be desired—specifically, the lack of any meaningful agreements.

Many of these pro-Palestinian, anti-Israel activists have spent the last few years vocalizing their frustration at the Biden-Harris team’s inability to broker peace. Now, instead of pointing fingers at Trump’s past actions, they are resorting to a strange form of praise for him while taking an enjoyable victory lap around the Biden administration’s shortcomings. It’s as if they suddenly realized their last hope for a functioning U.S. foreign policy is the man they spent years demonizing. What a twist!

Reports confirm that the Biden administration did something unusual by allowing Trump’s newly appointed special envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, to step in and lead negotiations. Was this a sign of desperation from an administration that has been trying to present itself as a champion of diplomacy? Apparently, it turns out that giving Trump a chance may have been a stroke of luck—or at least a last-ditch effort to salvage their diplomatic credibility.

The buzz from journalists on the left is particularly rich. One co-host of a popular podcast pointed out that this ceasefire event is nothing short of a “shining moment” for Trump and a glaring blemish on Biden’s record. It’s almost comical to witness left-leaning commentators grappling with the reality that the man who was supposed to be the paragon of chaos has, in fact, delivered a major diplomatic win. Another journalist suggested that this achievement could even warrant a Nobel Peace Prize if the world were a different place—essentially admitting that under Trump’s leadership, the peace-seeker is actually making waves while the Biden admin flounders.

The backlash against Biden is extending even to those who have been staunchly critical of Trump. A prominent a podcaster didn’t hold back in pointing out that Trump is showing the current administration what a leader can accomplish. Meanwhile, academic voices dissecting Biden’s administration’s handling of the situation reveal a deepening disappointment among Arab Americans, particularly in Michigan, who feel betrayed and misled.

As 2024 inches closer, this shift in progressive sentiment serves as a poignant reminder: it’s hard to claim moral high ground when your choice in leadership leads to disaster after disaster. While Biden may have touted a commitment to peace, the reality highlights the stark contrast of Trump taking decisive action. If nothing else, it’s a lesson in accountability for an administration that seems utterly incapable of delivering on its lofty rhetoric.
