New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani just revealed his radical plan to save the Big Apple. The Democratic Socialist wants to hike taxes on anyone making over one million dollars. His wild idea is that punishing success will somehow make rich people want to stay in New York.
Mamdani thinks he can raise billions by soaking the wealthy and use that money for free buses and government-run grocery stores. He wants a 30-dollar minimum wage and 200,000 new affordable housing units paid for by taxpayers. The guy actually believes that making New York more expensive for job creators will improve the economy.
Here’s what this socialist doesn’t understand about basic economics. When you attack successful people with crushing taxes, they pack up and leave for Florida or Texas. These states welcome businesses with open arms and low taxes while New York drives them away with socialist schemes.
Mamdani’s plan for government-operated grocery stores is straight out of the communist playbook. Every time governments try to run businesses, they fail miserably and waste taxpayer money. Private companies do it better, cheaper, and faster than big government ever could.
The candidate also wants to completely overhaul public safety and has criticized our ally Israel. He even said he would arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu if he visited New York. This is the kind of dangerous thinking that puts politics over protecting Americans and our friends.
Real millionaires and billionaires are already fleeing high-tax blue states in record numbers. Florida gained over 300,000 new residents last year while New York lost population. Smart business leaders choose freedom over socialism every single time.
Instead of punishing success, New York should be rewarding it with tax breaks and business incentives. Conservative states understand this simple truth and their economies are booming while liberal cities crumble under failed progressive policies. Competition works better than government control.
Mamdani represents everything wrong with today’s Democratic Party. His radical agenda would turn New York into another failing socialist experiment. Hardworking Americans deserve leaders who understand that free markets and low taxes create prosperity, not government handouts and wealth redistribution.
