Rand Paul Blocks Biden’s F-16 Sales to Turkey: Saving Christian Lives

In a heroic move to protect persecuted Christians, Republican Senator Rand Paul has introduced a bill to block President Biden’s support for the ongoing Christian genocide in Turkey. The bill, aptly named Senate Joint Resolution 60, aims to put a halt to the sale of F-16 fighter jets to Turkey, which are being shamelessly used to aid Turkey’s genocidal campaign against Armenian Christians. It’s about time someone stood up against this injustice!

The Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) has applauded Sen. Paul’s resolution, highlighting the horrific nature of the weapons being sold. Let’s not forget that Turkey deployed these very F-16s to Azerbaijan during their 2020 aggression against Artsakh, in direct violation of US and NATO restrictions. It’s disgraceful that these weapons, meant to protect and defend, are being used to carry out acts of genocide.

For years, Azerbaijan has been relentlessly targeting ethnic Armenians in the Nagorno-Karabakh region. While Azerbaijan and its buddy Turkey might deny it, countless experts agree that this is a clear case of genocide against the world’s oldest Christian nation. Even Luis Moreno Ocampo, former prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, has publicly denounced Azerbaijan’s actions as genocide. It’s mind-boggling that some people still refuse to call it what it is.

Despite President Biden initially recognizing the Armenian Genocide, his recent waiver of section 907 of the Freedom Support Act undermines that stance. By allowing the US to provide military assistance to Azerbaijan, Biden is turning a blind eye to the suffering of Christians and sacrificing human rights for political convenience. It’s another disappointing example of the Biden administration’s lack of moral clarity and its willingness to cozy up to oppressive regimes.

Senator Rand Paul’s bill is a ray of hope in these dark times. It not only sends a strong message to Turkey and Azerbaijan, but it also shines a light on the Biden administration’s misguided policies. We need leaders like Paul who are unafraid to stand up for what’s right, regardless of political alliances. It’s time to put an end to the Christian genocide and hold those responsible accountable. Genocide is not a partisan issue – it’s a matter of basic humanity.
