Representative Jamie Raskin (D-MD) slammed the Republican-led House’s decision to open an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden as a shameless mockery of the Constitution. Raskin went on MSNBC’s “All In” to express his outrage, pointing out that the Republicans are so hung up on trying to take down Biden that they’ve abandoned any pretense of working on important legislative issues.

Raskin didn’t hold back, accusing the GOP of being solely focused on undermining Biden and regaining power, rather than actually helping the people of Ukraine, Gaza, or Israel. He highlighted the complete lack of interest in humanitarian assistance and suggested that the Republicans are driven solely by their thirst for power.
The congressman also predicted that the impeachment inquiry is nothing more than a ploy to keep the issue alive and muddy the waters for the upcoming election. Raskin warned that the Republicans want to drag Biden through a trial, potentially right before the next election, just to deflect from their own troubles and create distractions for voters.
Moreover, Raskin pointed out that the GOP’s insistence on an impeachment inquiry for an undefined event is an affront to the Constitution. He made clear his belief that the Republicans are shamelessly politicizing and undermining the integrity of the Constitution for their own selfish gains.
In sum, Representative Raskin’s remarks on MSNBC demonstrate the fervent opposition of the Democratic Party to what they see as a politically motivated Republican impeachment inquiry that is divorced from reality and motivated by a desire for power.
