Remembering 9/11: A Call to Protect America from Future Threats

Twenty four years ago today, evil struck America. Islamic terrorists murdered nearly 3,000 innocent Americans in the worst attack on our homeland since Pearl Harbor. Today we remember every single hero who died that day and we honor the brave souls who rushed into danger to save lives.

President Trump visited the Pentagon today to pay his respects to the fallen. Vice President JD Vance and the Second Lady traveled to Ground Zero where the Twin Towers once stood tall and proud. These leaders understand what too many politicians forget – America must never bow to terrorists or forget who attacked us.

At 8:46 this morning, the Bell of Hope rang out across New York City. That was the exact moment when the first hijacked plane slammed into the North Tower. The names of all 2,977 victims were read aloud, just like every year since that terrible day.

We cannot forget that this was not some random act of violence. This was a planned attack by al-Qaeda terrorists who hate everything America stands for. They targeted our freedom, our prosperity, and our way of life because they knew we represented hope to the world.

The heroes of 9/11 showed the world what real Americans are made of. Firefighters ran up those stairs while everyone else ran down. Police officers charged into the smoke and flames. Ordinary citizens on Flight 93 fought back against the hijackers and saved countless lives in Washington.

But here we are 24 years later, and our borders are still wide open. We let in millions of people without knowing who they are or what they want. How can we say “never forget” while we ignore the basic duty to protect our homeland?

Our first responders from that day are still fighting for their lives. Many are sick and dying from the toxic air they breathed while searching for survivors. These heroes deserve the best medical care our country can provide, not government red tape and delays.

America is still the greatest nation on earth, but we must stay strong and vigilant. We owe it to every person who died on 9/11 to keep our country safe and free. Never forget means never let our guard down against those who want to destroy us.
