U.S. Rep. Cory Mills (R-FL) took action against President Joe Biden by filing an article of impeachment on Friday. This move fulfills his promise to hold the president accountable for holding back military aid to Israel, which had been approved by Congress.
Mills’ resolution, titled “Impeaching Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr., President of the United States, for high crimes and misdemeanors,” accuses Biden of abusing his power in relation to Israel. According to the resolution, Biden’s actions toward Israel represent a breach of the powers of the presidency, as specified in the Constitution.

The article of impeachment further alleges that President Biden engaged in a “quid pro quo” with Israel by withholding precision guided weapons shipments to pressure the government of Israel to make military policy changes. Mills contends that Biden’s actions compromised the national security of both the United States and its ally, Israel.
President Biden had previously stated that any “quid pro quo” by a president should result in impeachment. This echoes the standard set by Democrats when they impeached then-President Donald Trump, citing his withholding of aid to Ukraine in exchange for a political favor.
