Representative Kelly Armstrong, a Republican from North Dakota, laid it out plain and simple: hearing things straight from the horse’s mouth is way better than reading it on some fancy piece of paper. He was up in arms about President Biden using executive privilege to block the release of his chit-chat with special counsel Robert Hur.
Armstrong got his hands on the transcripts of the conversation, but he was after the real deal – the tapes. He wanted to listen in on what was said, not just settle for words on a page. But alas, the White House swooped in at the last moment, throwing down the executive privilege card faster than a cheetah chasing its dinner.

To Armstrong, this move reeked of a cover-up. Why block the audio if there’s nothing to hide? He even hinted that AG Merrick Garland might be dancing around the real issues to protect his buddies at the White House. Armstrong wasn’t having any of it and called for the House to hold Garland in contempt.
Armstrong made it clear that oversight is vital to keep the executive branch in check. If they can’t even get their hands on evidence for one case, what’s to stop the Justice Department from calling all the shots in the future? It’s a slippery slope, folks.
In the end, Armstrong believes the truth will come out one way or another. He’s not backing down, and he’s ready to wrangle with anyone who tries to stonewall Congress. It’s a showdown worth watching, like a Wild West duel with suits and ties instead of cowboy hats. Hold onto your hats, folks – it’s gonna be a bumpy ride!
