Republican Representative Andy Biggs of Arizona has been vocal in his criticism of President Joe Biden’s foreign policy decisions, particularly in regards to the United States’ involvement in the conflict between Ukraine and Russia. On Tuesday, Biggs appeared on Fox Business with host Stuart Varney to discuss his opinion on the matter.
Biggs argued that Biden has failed to take the necessary steps to bring about a diplomatic solution to the dispute between Ukraine and Russia. He believes that instead, Biden has only increased tensions by offering Ukraine an additional $500 million in military aid, which includes howitzers and Javelin anti-tank missiles. In addition, Biden has met with Polish President Andrzej Duda and is scheduled to meet with NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg and other NATO leaders to discuss Ukraine.
Biggs believes that Biden’s foreign policy decisions have led to a “full on proxy war” between the United States and Russia. He further argued that Biden’s failure to use diplomacy has allowed Russia to invade Ukraine in February of this year. The United States has responded by sending over $100 billion in aid to Ukraine, as well as 31 M1 Abrams main battle tanks and a battery of MIM-104 Patriot surface-to-air missiles.
When asked if he blamed Biden for the invasion, Biggs responded by saying, “I am blaming President Biden, absolutely. It’s his foreign policy that allowed the Russians to invade in the first place.” He then went on to explain that President Trump had previously stopped the invasion through diplomacy and diplomatic relationships with Putin, something that Biden has failed to do.
When asked what the “win strategy” looks like, Biggs was unable to provide an answer. He believes that Biden’s foreign policy decisions have only increased tensions between the United States and Russia, and that it will take great diplomacy to ratchet down the situation.
The conflict between Ukraine and Russia is a complex one, and it will take a great deal of effort from both sides to find a peaceful resolution. It is clear that President Biden’s foreign policy decisions have had an impact on the situation, and it remains to be seen how he will continue to handle the situation moving forward. It is important for all involved parties to come together and work towards a peaceful solution that is beneficial for all.
