Rev. Al Sharpton, known for his involvement in civil rights issues, has once again shown his lack of knowledge about American history. In an interview, Sharpton made some strange and inaccurate comments about former President Donald Trump and the Revolutionary War. He criticized Trump for allegedly inciting the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol and compared it to James Madison and Thomas Jefferson trying to overthrow the government to stay in power.

Sharpton seems to have forgotten that Madison and Jefferson were actually instrumental in overthrowing the British government during the Revolutionary War. They led the rebellion against the Crown and fought for American independence. Sharpton’s comments are not only historically incorrect, but also demonstrate a lack of understanding about the role Madison and Jefferson played in shaping the country.

It’s no surprise that Sharpton’s remarks went unchallenged on the show, as they likely assume their audience wouldn’t catch the absurdity of his statements. Once again, Sharpton has beclowned himself with his ignorance.
