President Joe Biden may be using the Department of Justice (DOJ) to go after former President Donald Trump, but he might end up facing consequences himself. Law professor Jonathan Turley warns Biden in an opinion piece for The Messenger, detailing the case against Trump and its shaky legal ground. Turley highlights the danger of criminalizing lies in political campaigns and warns that this could set a dangerous precedent for Biden. He points out that Biden has a lot to lose, especially considering his own past lies about his involvement in his son’s questionable business deals. Turley suggests that Biden could face impeachment if this legal standard is applied consistently.

Despite the mounting evidence against Biden, the White House continues to deny any change in the narrative. Even though Hunter Biden’s former associate, Devon Archer, testified that Joe Biden was involved in his son’s business dealings, the White House maintains its talking points. Turley raises the question of why Biden lied and points out the inconsistency in his denials. The author concludes by emphasizing that Biden knew his denials were false and that lying under such circumstances could be considered a criminal offense, as seen in the case of Trump. Turley suggests that Biden’s lies could also trigger impeachment inquiries.
While Biden is likely safe from impeachment in the Democratic-controlled Senate, the need for impeachment remains, given the president’s corruption. Columnist Kurt Schlichter believes impeachment is inevitable and argues that the GOP cannot ignore Biden’s corrupt actions. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has discussed the possibility of an impeachment inquiry, especially if financial information is withheld about the Biden family. Although Congress is currently in recess, there are indications that the impeachment inquiry could happen in the fall.
