Amazon Prime Video has made the shocking decision to remove the documentary “The Plot Against the President” from its streaming service without any explanation. It seems that consumers are no longer able to rent or purchase the documentary digitally from the platform. Breitbart News conducted searches on Amazon and found that the movie either doesn’t appear at all or shows a message saying it’s unavailable in certain locations. It’s unclear when exactly Amazon took down the movie, but it seems to have happened within the past two months. Despite reaching a significant number of user reviews on Amazon, the documentary has now disappeared from the platform.
“The Plot Against the President” is based on the bestseller by Lee Smith and delves into the Russiagate scandal, exposing how Democrats and the mainstream media conspired to undermine the peaceful transition of power after the 2016 election. The documentary focuses on the efforts of then-Rep. Devin Nunes to expose the conspiratorial attempts to take down former President Donald Trump. With its critical analysis of the Russiagate hoax, it’s not surprising that Amazon may disagree with the film ideologically.

In a statement, the director of the documentary, Amanda Milius, suggested that Amazon was embarrassed by the film’s success on its platform. Milius also stated that Amazon probably disagrees with the film’s content, even if it brought them a lot of money. This move by Amazon to erase a successful and thought-provoking documentary raises questions about the company’s commitment to freedom of speech and the diversity of ideas on its platform.
This isn’t the first time Amazon has faced criticism for its bias against conservative content. In 2020, Amazon withheld the streaming release of “The Plot Against the President” for nearly two weeks, citing the need for a “content review.” Additionally, Amazon refused to livestream the Republican National Convention during primetime while providing full coverage of the Democratic National Convention. These incidents, coupled with the fact that Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos owns the left-leaning Washington Post, suggest a clear bias against conservative voices.
Thankfully, “The Plot Against the President” will still be available to stream on other platforms like Rumble / Locals, iTunes, YouTube, and Movies Plus. However, it’s disheartening to see a major streaming service like Amazon Prime Video suppress a documentary that challenges the mainstream narrative and offers an alternative perspective. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of diverse media options and the need to stand against any form of censorship, especially when it comes to conservative voices.
