A study conducted by the JAMA revealed that the number of children going through gender transition procedures has significantly increased in recent years. Between 2016 and 2019, almost 50,000 individuals in the US underwent these operations. The study also noted that about 4,000 of these procedures were carried out on people aged 12 to 18.
Although it's not clear how many minors underwent the procedures, a study by Vanderbilt University showed that in 2019, almost 500 kids between the age of 12 and 17, had double mastectomies. This alarming figure has prompted conservative voices to voice their concerns about this practice.
According to Terry Schilling, the American Principles Project president, there is a misconception that trans is a civil rights issue. It is an industry that sterilizes and mutilates the youth of America for profit. Critics also believe that it is unreasonable for children to be taught about the harmful effects of these procedures.

According to the study, gender dysphoria operations went beyond mastectomies. They also featured other procedures such as genital transitioning and facial reconstruction. The study found that 87.4% of the individuals between 12 and 18 underwent chest or breast procedures.
The study's data only covered the period from 2016 to 2019. The number of minors going through these procedures has continued to increase, and there is a growing movement against this practice. Many people who have regretted or detransitioned their operations are also questioning the long-term effects of these transformations.
