In yet another episode of “Progressive Policies Gone Wild,” Democrats in some major cities seem to be playing a curious game of hide and seek—with ICE. It appears they’re encouraging folks to give ICE officers the runaround. Imagine a digital map where fugitives, rapists, and cartel members can sneak around in broad daylight, always a couple of steps ahead. That’s the genius of certain politicians trying to outsmart law enforcement with tracking apps. These great ideas, they say, protect their communities. But if the community has to dodge criminal aliens, one might wonder what exactly is being protected.
In Chicago, the situation seems to be equally puzzling. The mayor there is playing “keep ICE away” because he apparently believes it’s best to shield those who have more than a little problem with following the law. His strategy appears to revolve around letting undocumented immigrant offenders who commit crimes against those we’re supposed to be safeguarding—a.k.a. families—roam free. You have to stop and ask, isn’t the whole point of being in charge to look after your people? The script seems flipped when the focus is more on giving lawbreakers a safe space rather than ensuring safety for law-abiding citizens.
While politicos put such plans in motion, the streets aren’t exactly getting safer. Despite all this, some Democrats still advocate for undocumented immigrants to continue living in the U.S., with some going so far as to condone violence against any federal officer that tries to intervene.
California isn’t immune to similar tragic tales born from reckless immigration policies. Over there, a truck driven by an undocumented immigrant, who the brilliance of progressive policy let onto the road, recently caused three tragic deaths. The resulting anguish could have been avoided if only Democrat leaders prioritized public safety above their misguided brand of compassion. It’s unclear how many more of these stories need to unfold before a reality check takes place. Meanwhile, there’s a grim running tally of lives that could have been saved if only Democrats had adopted a different approach.
In the midst of this political thriller, there’s a Trump policy mastermind named Stephen Miller who’s a bit like the superhero conservatives might not know they need. With policies tightening the borders and defending the constitution, Miller grabs the spotlight as a level-headed thinker in chaotic times, even if it’s just one voice in a storm of progressive cries. If more folks at the policy wheel would intellectualize the issues at hand the way Miller does, one wonders how much safer American streets might be right now.
