This sentiment cuts across party lines, with 89 percent of Republicans and 69 percent of Democrats agreeing that Biden is not fit for four more years in the White House. Even different age groups share this belief, proving that it’s not just the young people who have concerns about his age. However, it is worth noting that older Democrats tend to be more supportive of Biden’s potential for a 2024 bid.
While it may seem hypocritical, about half of U.S. adults surveyed in the same poll also stated that former President Donald Trump is too old for the office. Democrats are more likely to disqualify Trump based on his age than Republicans, indicating a partisan bias. These findings only underscore the overall sentiment among Americans that it’s time for fresh faces and new ideas in high office.
Biden’s age has been a topic of discussion for some time now. At 80 years old, he is currently the oldest serving president in U.S. history. If he were to be re-elected in 2024 and serve a full term, he would be 86 years old by the time he leaves office in 2029. These figures highlight the concerns about his ability to effectively discharge his duties, especially considering his health. Multiple polls have shown that a significant portion of voters, including independent voters, question Biden’s fitness for the job due to his age and health.
It seems that the American public is sending a clear message: they want fresh blood and younger leaders in high office.
