Uh-oh! Looks like Americans are stuck in another sticky situation, with no help in sight from the federal government. President Biden told them to take “commercial flights” to get back home, but little did he know that the airlines had already cancelled most of the services out of the country. Whoops

Even the lawmakers are feeling the heat from their panicked constituents. Rep. Grace Meng, a Democrat from New York, wrote a letter to Secretary of State Antony Blinken, explaining how her office is getting all these scary reports from her constituents who are stuck in Israel. She wants the State Department to make sure Americans can actually book seats on those commercial flights, and she’s even suggesting using charter or military planes to get them out. Yikes!

But don’t worry, the Republicans are on it too. Rep. Mike Lawler and Rep. Nicole Malliotakis, both from New York, are also trying to get answers from Blinken. Lawler wants to know how many Americans are stuck over there and if the State Department is planning to do anything about it. Malliotakis is encouraging all her constituents to register with the department so they know exactly how many Americans need help. Good thinking!
Oh, and speaking of Americans needing help, it looks like there’s at least one nonprofit organization, Project Dynamo, that’s stepping up to the plate. They’re helping out Americans stuck in the war zone, even though they really shouldn’t have to. But hey, someone’s gotta do it since the government seems to be dropping the ball lately.
Meanwhile, a bunch of other countries like Spain, Brazil, and South Korea are already sending planes to rescue their citizens. But where’s the United States? Well, it seems like Delta might be working with the government to bring Americans home, but no one really knows for sure. Maybe they should give us an update on that?
