An Ohio police dispatcher was overcome with amusement when she received a call regarding a malefactor breaking into a vehicle at Akron's Arlington Auto Wrecking. The situation took an unexpectedly comical turn of events. The astute gardener immediately employed a crane to elevate the vehicle an astounding 20 feet in the air, thereby ensnaring the perplexed thief. Subsequently, Fox News broadcast police bodycam footage of the entire incident.

Due to the vehicle's state of suspension in midair, law enforcement promptly executed an arrest. The individual in question, who was identified as Alexander Funk, 26, was arrested on suspicion of criminal trespassing and possession of criminal instruments. Evidently, Arlington Auto Wrecking has encountered its fair share of theft issues in the past, and their staff had grown weary of dealing with break-ins on a regular basis.
During an on-camera interview, an employee of the salvage yard conveyed their discontent by stating, "We are currently facing significant challenges pertaining to the theft of merchandise and other related matters. A person has fallen or been involved in a collision in one of our yard's vehicles; I've had the loader raise the vehicle and he's currently approximately 20 feet in the air; I refuse to lower this in order to allow him to escape and flee. I mean, we've had an absolute slew of issues around here, including larceny, catalytic converters, fires, and everything else."
Funk has a considerable criminal record, having been convicted of disorderly conduct, substance abuse, criminal trespassing, and entering a condemned building in the past. Although this was his third encounter with Arlington Auto Wrecking, it was his initial apprehension involving a forklift. The discovery of a backpack containing saws, saw blades, and other hand tools upon Funk's apprehension by the police suggests he intended to commit additional mischief.
