Terror Strikes US Cities as Senate Dems Stall Trump Security Picks

The New Year has kicked off with a tragic bang as a terror attack on Bourbon Street in New Orleans has left ten people dead and dozens injured. This shocking incident, carried out by a suspect waving an ISIS flag, involved firearms and an improvised explosive device. Simultaneously, Las Vegas has been rocked by an explosion of a Tesla Cybertruck right outside the Trump Hotel, raising eyebrows and concerns over security at a time when Democrats seem more focused on obstructing progress than protecting citizens.

Despite the obvious links to terrorism, the FBI initially dawdled in labeling the Bourbon Street attack as such. Only after the public had already connected the dots did they confirm its ties to ISIS. This agonizing delay serves as a damning indictment of the current leadership’s ability to respond to threats. Thankfully, President-elect Donald Trump is gearing up to change that narrative. With nominees like Kash Patel proposed for FBI director, America’s national security is about to get a significant upgrade—assuming the Senate can stop playing partisan games and push these appointments through.

Just a day before the attacks, Trump passionately called on Senate Republicans to reject any attempts by Democrats to stall his cabinet picks. His message was clear: the mandate voters granted him demands prompt and decisive action when it comes to national security. For Trump, protecting American lives trumps political squabbles, and it’s time for the new administration to hit the ground running without any bureaucratic baggage holding it back.

Senator-elect Bernie Moreno echoed this call-to-action, emphasizing that the newly formed national security team needs to be in place by January 20, or else America risks leaving itself wide open to further vulnerabilities. He didn’t hold back in criticizing Democrats, pointing out their blind support for President Biden’s woefully unqualified nominees. With acolytes like Mayor Pete and Alejandro Mayorkas making up the team’s star lineup, nobody should be surprised by the surge of chaos that has followed.

The horror of both the New Orleans and Las Vegas incidents highlights a pressing concern for America: delays in confirming Trump’s nominees translate to a direct risk to national security. It’s time for Democrats to abandon partisanship and cooperate for the good of the country. The safety of American citizens should never take a backseat to petty political games. The clock is ticking, and the American people deserve better than a government caught up in obstructionism when real threats loom large.
