Something curious is happening in Texas. Jasmine Crockett, a Democratic Representative, thinks she stands a snowball’s chance in a Texas summer to challenge a Republican giant for a Senate seat. Crockett, in a surprising twist, is eyeing John Cornyn’s position, saying internal polling gives her a shot against either him or Ken Paxton. Isn’t it something to see the Democrats, forever dreaming of turning Texas blue, clutch onto any straw they can find?
Democrats seem eager to rally around the idea of division within the Texas GOP. Crockett claims the Republicans are in chaos, suffering a so-called civil war over who will survive the primary. It’s quite the tease to think Cornyn, a man with decades of service to Texas, is suddenly not “MAGA enough.” In reality, Texas has been a stronghold for conservatives, with Trump winning the state by a significant margin. But here they are, jazzing up a narrative of internal squabbling to mask their own shaky footing.

Crockett makes another bold claim that she has the demographic support to build a statewide campaign. It’s an illusion, a mirage meant to paint a red state blue. Even mentioning that she’s head-to-head with Paxton is a classic case of counting your chickens before they hatch. And when it comes to Cornyn, the polling details are conveniently vague. A close race? In Texas? Against stalwart Republicans? That’s a wild assumption, one that only deludes their own base.
Let’s not even start on the media playing along with this fantasy. With all eyes on the outcome, they’ll spin any hint of division as a sign of weakness among conservatives. Expect them to downplay or outright ignore the substantive policies Republicans bring to the table in favor of sensational stories of feigned infighting. The Democrats’ candid hope that Paxton will be easier to beat is nothing but wishful thinking. Texans aren’t fooled by the sleight of hand the left is trying to pull.
What makes one wonder, amidst these lofty ambitions and aggressive posturing, is this: have the Democrats once again misjudged the pulse of Texas? Are they so blinded by their dreams of a blue Texas that they’ve lost touch with the reality staring them in the face? Texans cherish their values, cherish their freedoms, and remember who stands up for them, time and again. As they dream of delusions, we stand ready, eyes open, with facts on our side. Who’s out of touch with reality here?
