Delaware’s state Sen. Sarah McBride, who is transgender, announced that “she” will be running for Congress in 2024. In her announcement video that was posted on Twitter, McBride called out politicians such as Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO), and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), who she believes “divide” the nation. However, it is concerning how McBride is representing the nation as a transgender individual who identifies as a woman.

McBride’s announcement has caused a wave of questions to arise. Can a transgender individual represent the interests of everyday Americans proficiently? How can an individual who has struggled with their own gender identity possibly be able to understand the nuanced perspectives of diverse Americans who might disagree with their identity politics?
I’m excited to share that I'm running for Congress!
In Delaware, we’ve proven that small states can do BIG things. It’s time to do it again. 🧵

I have the experience and the determination to deliver bold change in Congress.
When I ran for the State Senate with a plan to pass paid family and medical leave, political observers said it would take decades to get it done. We made it law in two years. 💁♀️

As they’ve increased their attacks on families and kids, it has become even clearer: for our democracy to work, it needs to include all of us. If elected, I’ll be the first openly trans member in Congress.

McBride claimed to have protected rights associated with abortion and gun control in the state Senate, however, these actions seem to vindicate leftist policies that undermine individual rights and freedoms. It raises red flags whether or not McBride will stand for issues that truly protect the American people’s liberties and rights.
Furthermore, McBride’s past actions and affiliations must be considered. During her time in American University, McBride used the student newspaper, The Eagle, to announce that she would live as a woman, and from there, worked to “progress” the LGBT agenda on campus. In the present, she is the former national press secretary for the Human Rights Campaign and has connections to President Biden.
In conclusion, McBride’s entrance into politics might intimidate some Americans, particularly those of conservative values. It opens new questions about whether or not transgender individuals can represent diverse America’s best interests. Overall, it is concerning how a transgender individual can understand the various perspectives of the vast and heterogeneous population in the USA.
