The Department of Justice (DOJ) conducted an investigation into claims that former President Donald Trump colluded with the FBI to protect his hotel in Washington, D.C., while planning to relocate the agency from the J. Edgar Hoover building. The DOJ’s Oversight and Review Division released their findings, concluding that these accusations were nothing more than hot air.

The investigation was initiated at the request of congressional Democrats who provided no evidence to support their claims. The report stated that then-Director Christopher Wray did not feel any pressure from President Trump to approve the relocation plan. Wray explicitly stated that Trump was not involved in his recommendation and that he did not try to influence the outcome.
According to the report, there was no evidence to suggest that the FBI considered Trump’s financial interests or the location of the Trump International Hotel when deciding to keep the headquarters at its current site. Despite these findings, Democrats, led by Rep. Elijah Cummings, accused Trump of prioritizing his own financial interests by intervening in the FBI headquarters project. However, the report clearly refutes these allegations.
This victory for President Trump demonstrates that federal government watchdogs may be hesitating to go after him. The ongoing investigations by special counsel Jack Smith have faced numerous legal setbacks as they continue to battle against Trump’s formidable legal team. These investigations are not only a waste of time, but they are also a significant drain on taxpayers’ money, potentially costing up to $25 million annually. It’s time to put an end to these baseless witch hunts and focus on more important matters that benefit the American people.
