Democratic Maryland Rep. David Trone has once again shown his willingness to put illegal immigrants ahead of American citizens. In the wake of a heartbreaking tragedy where a toddler was senselessly murdered by an illegal immigrant right outside his district, Trone shamelessly signed a letter urging Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas to shut down detainment centers for those who break our laws to enter the country.

Trone and his fellow Democrats claim to care about treating immigrants with dignity and using resources wisely, but their priorities are clearly misplaced. Instead of focusing on the safety and well-being of American citizens, they choose to coddle lawbreakers. It’s no wonder they are losing touch with everyday Americans.
The letter, signed by 50 House Democrats, including radical progressives like Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib, criticized the use of detainment centers and called for their closure. This move only serves to embolden illegal immigrants and perpetuate the crisis at our southern border, all while ignoring the devastating consequences faced by American families like the one who lost their precious toddler to a senseless act of violence.
Trone’s support for giving illegal immigrants voting rights and pushing for citizenship for millions who have broken our laws is a slap in the face to law-abiding citizens and legal immigrants who have followed the rules to come to this country. His disregard for the safety and security of Americans is appalling and should not be tolerated.
The tragic murder of two-year-old Jeremy Poou-Caceres is a stark reminder of the real-life consequences of failed immigration policies. The fact that the perpetrator, Salvadoran Nilson Trejo-Granados, had been released from custody multiple times despite being in the country illegally highlights the flaws in our current system that Democrats like Trone refuse to address.
As the 2024 elections approach, it is crucial that voters remember where politicians like Trone stand. Putting the needs of illegal immigrants above those of American citizens is not a winning strategy, and it’s time for elected officials to prioritize the safety and security of the American people above all else.
