Under President Trump’s watchful eye, the Department of Homeland Security has made considerable strides in securing the southern border. The numbers speak for themselves: illegal border crossings have plummeted by an astonishing 93 percent since he took office. This is not just a minor reduction—it eclipses even the achievements from his previous term. It seems that when the border czar speaks, it’s time for the critics to silence their howls.
Tom Homan, notorious for standing up to the liberal narrative, emphasized the necessity of understanding who and what crosses into America. He aptly pointed out the lack of national security if the borders remain unguarded. With this administration, the focus has been clear: security starts at the border. In the first week of deportation operations alone, nearly 5,000 individuals were apprehended, many of whom were confirmed criminals. This is a robust effort to put safety first, as those found guilty of crimes are being sent packing. Homan pointed out a rather unfortunate feature of liberal sanctuary policies: they end up making it easier for those who should be behind bars to roam free in our communities. Under the Trump administration, the focus is squarely on getting rid of the bad apples who would otherwise be flying under the radar thanks to these misguided policies.
Statistics support the administration’s hardline approach. As of January 31, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) racked up 7,412 arrests of individuals in the country illegally. Not to mention, close to 6,000 detainers have been issued, ensuring these offenders do not simply vanish back into the public. This level of enforcement provides a critical reminder of the necessity of supporting law and order, something that many Americans are craving in this age of unruly protests and rising crime rates.
Simply put, the barrier to entry into the United States is once again being enforced, and the results are clear for all to see. The border is—dare it be said—SHUT DOWN. The Mexican side looks on in disbelief as their would-be crossers are met with an iron wall of regulations, and most Americans couldn’t be more thrilled about it. President Trump is showing that with gutsy policies and decisive action, it’s possible to restore respect for the rule of law, even in a landscape fraught with political paralysis. The message is loud and clear: if you are a criminal or threat to public safety, America is no longer your playground.
