As President Donald Trump reclaims the reins of power and delivers on his campaign promise to cut wasteful federal spending through the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), Democrats are kicking up a fuss, accusing him of undermining democracy. Just as predicted, the party of obstruction seems to have forgotten how elections work, flabbergasted that a landslide victory translates to actual reforms. Apparently, they expect Trump to sip tea while waiting for a bipartisan high-five instead of tackling the bloated, lazy bureaucracies that have plagued the nation for decades.
DOGE recently rolled out its inaugural savings report, revealing an impressive estimated $55 billion saved by ferreting out the usual suspects of government waste. Dedicating a department specifically to address inefficiencies wasn’t exactly a mystery. Trump has been beating the drum about “draining the swamp” since his 2015 campaign. Yet somehow, the Democrats are shocked—shocked!—that Trump would actually fulfill the promises he made to the voters who put him back in office. It’s a bit rich that they now want to cry foul when they’re the ones with a losing track record.

Elon Musk, now no stranger to the halls of government, is at the helm of DOGE, and he hasn’t been shy about bringing the proverbial axe to federal agency budgets. His team is on a tear, identifying waste and redundancies faster than Congress can approve a budget. DOGE’s success includes everything from axing unnecessary contracts to renegotiating leases, all while hinting that a portion of the savings could make its way back to taxpayers. The idea that the federal government might actually return some of what it’s taken is enough to send chills down the spines of those who have insisted on expanding its clutches.
While Trump’s approach has garnered substantial support from the American populace—with a whopping 70% backing his plan—Democrats are igniting their typical drama. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and his merry band of rule-players labeled DOGE’s actions as anti-democratic, ignoring the glaring fact that their attempts to block fiscal responsibility stem from a fear of losing power. At a recent protest, the pitch from the left was as theatrical as expected, with Democrats vowing not to let Trump “desecrate our Constitution” while simultaneously ignoring his clear mandate from the electorate.
As legal battles hover over DOGE’s operations, a flurry of lawsuits filed by various Democratic state attorneys general aims to derail the department’s efforts. While these legislators claim that access to various government payment systems is “unlawful,” many are left scratching their heads at the apparent prioritization of certain bureaucracy over the actual needs of citizens. With U.S. District Judges stepping in to block various executive actions, it appears a handful of judges are attempting to play the role of rogue referees in a match clearly won by the Trump team.
Ultimately, it is apparent that the fights in the courts are less about legality and more about the left’s desperate attempts to maintain relevance in a post-Trump world. They lost the presidency, the House, and the Senate. With few options left, wielding the judicial system has become their last line of defense. Meanwhile, President Trump and his supporters are determined to carry out the mandate that the American people handed him, fulfilling his pledge to cut back on waste and restore some responsibility to the federal government. The squawking from the sidelines certainly proves one thing: the left just can’t handle the truth when it comes to governance.
