As a conservative Republican, this writer can’t help but applaud Trump’s bold stance. It’s no secret that the Biden administration has been an absolute disaster when it comes to securing the border and treating all Americans fairly. By using the power of the purse, Republicans have an opportunity to send a clear message that they won’t stand for these injustices.
Of course, there are always naysayers who claim that a government shutdown would have negative consequences. They point to potential disruptions in mail services, delayed payments to taxpayers, and impacts on the military. But let’s be honest, folks. These are small inconveniences compared to the damage being done by the Biden administration day in and day out. If shutting down the government is what it takes to save our country from $35 trillion in debt and protect the American people, then so be it.
It’s worth noting that House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy has faced challenges in rallying his party around a conservative resolution. In an effort to secure funding and push through spending cuts, McCarthy is reportedly considering an immigration package that Democrats are likely to vote against. But here’s the thing – appeasing Democrats shouldn’t be the goal. The goal should be standing up for conservative values and principles, even if it means risking a government shutdown.
During an interview with NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Trump made it crystal clear that he is willing to do whatever it takes to get a fair deal. He stated, “I’d shut down the government if they can’t make an appropriate deal, absolutely.” This kind of decisive leadership is exactly what our country needs in these trying times.
Now, of course, there are those who argue that a shutdown would be detrimental to most Americans. They claim it would display the ongoing dysfunction of our government. But let’s not forget who’s responsible for that dysfunction – the Biden administration and their reckless policies. If a shutdown exposes the shortcomings and failures of the current administration, then perhaps it’s a necessary evil.
In conclusion, it’s clear that Donald Trump is willing to take a stand for what he believes in, even if it means supporting a government shutdown. As a conservative Republican, this writer couldn’t agree more. It’s time to defund the Biden administration’s disastrous agenda and protect the American people.
