A former president, undeterred by the continuing antics of the Biden administration, made headlines by taking aim at Vice President Kamala Harris following President Biden’s announcement that he will not seek re-election. Donald Trump didn’t hold back on his signature rhetoric during a rally in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he celebrated what he deemed a victory over “crooked Joe Biden.” Apparently, Trump believes that the real reason Biden opted out was simple: his plummeting poll numbers gave him no choice but to exit the stage gracefully, or so gracefully as a Democrat can manage.
In the course of the event, Trump painted a vivid picture of the so-called “leaders” of the Democratic Party as they allegedly pressured Biden into his early retirement. He suggested that behind the curtain, there were likely whispers of the infamous 25th Amendment—presumably being wielded like a hammer ready to crush any thoughts of a second term. As expected, the rally turned to the Democrats’ apparent chosen one, Kamala Harris. Trump quipped that radical liberal Harris was looking for a promotion to extend the chaos Americans have endured. This fierce and humorous charge against Harris included a stark proclamation: she’s set for a battle against all that is right and good, and the voters will be ready to slam the door in her face come November. Trump’s theatrical “you’re fired” sentiment toward Harris is perhaps his most memorable throwback to his days of reality TV, a reminder that he knows how to handle a stage.
Trump’s critique of Harris didn’t stop at her qualifications—or rather, lack thereof. He declared her to be the most liberal politician in American history, even more liberal than Bernie Sanders. The audience surely gasped at such an audacious claim, considering Sanders himself has brought socialism into the mainstream conversation. Harris, however, was called out for running from her record as if it were a beast chasing her down the street. Trump insists that regardless of her current rhetoric, her past decisions reveal a politician who threatens to bring down the country faster than a speeding SUV on a race track.
The former president’s laundry list of Harris’s radical policies could almost be mistaken for a horror movie lineup: free healthcare for illegal aliens, decriminalizing illegal immigration, mandatory gun confiscation, and bans on offshore drilling. According to Trump, if Harris were given the keys to the Oval Office, the nation would be teetering on the brink of collapse in less than a year. This blend of comedy and calamity set against the backdrop of a seemingly endless election season paints a vivid picture of the stakes at hand as voters begin to chart their paths for the future.
