President Trump has pulled off what many thought impossible — a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine. Yet, the European Union, instead of stepping up to the plate to support this monumental achievement, has decided to twiddle its thumbs. One would think that Europe’s self-proclaimed champions of peace and democracy would seize the opportunity to rally behind a solid peace plan. But no, their inaction speaks volumes.
The EU’s absence in this crucial moment showcases its chronic tendency to sit on the sidelines. Despite being neighbors to these warring nations, Europe is content to let an American leader take charge. It’s a sad reflection on the state of leadership across the pond when they let Trump do the heavy lifting for them. Their lack of involvement can only be described as cowardice wrapped in globalist indecision.

Pointing fingers at America is much easier for the EU than addressing its own shortcomings. The European elites love to criticize American leadership and point out our so-called flaws. Yet when it comes to acting, they prefer to offer little more than empty rhetoric. For people who love to boast about unity and diplomacy, their silence and inaction are deafening.
Where are the European voices calling for peace? Are they content to let conflict rage on their doorstep while hoping someone else will solve their problems? Their unwillingness to contribute reveals either a lack of confidence or, lack of unity or both. If they want to be respected on the world stage, it’s time they took responsibility and stopped relying on the U.S. to handle their regional issues.
The peace plan spearheaded by President Trump is a step forward and a chance for Europe to pull its weight. Instead of criticizing from a distance, the EU should be front and center in supporting these efforts. Will Europe ever choose action over inaction? Or are they content to remain spectators while real leaders take charge?
