Trump Challenges Biden to Four Debates, Questions Two-Debate Limit

Former President Donald Trump is pushing back against President Joe Biden’s plan to only have two debates in the upcoming election, arguing that there should be at least four debates for the American people to hear from the candidates. Trump’s campaign released a statement expressing the belief that limiting the debates to just two does not provide enough opportunity for voters to fully understand the candidates and their visions for the country.

The Trump campaign also outlined the topics they wish to cover in the additional debates, including the impact of Biden’s economic policies on inflation, the overwhelming influx at the southern border, and the perceived chaos both domestically and internationally, as well as on college campuses.

In response to Biden’s proposed two debates, the Trump campaign has challenged him to an additional two debates, one per month from June to September. They argue that these additional debates would give voters more exposure to the candidates’ records and future plans.

The agreement for just two debates between Biden and Trump marks a departure from the norm, as presidential candidates have traditionally engaged in a series of debates leading up to the election since 1976. Moreover, Biden and Trump will not debate under the Commission on Presidential Debates, opting instead for debates on CNN and ABC News.

Throughout the campaign, Trump has been vocal about his willingness to debate Biden at any time and place, and has consistently advocated for more debates to better inform the American public.
