President Joe Biden’s reelection campaign is launching a clever strategy to keep union workers from flocking back to the arms of Donald Trump. They’re using Trump’s own words against him! The Biden-Harris 2024 campaign posted a video on their social media account that features quotes from Trump himself, along with the caption, “Let’s remember what the last guy thinks of American workers.” Ouch! Talk about a political slam dunk.

In the video, they highlight some choice quotes from Trump where he calls unions “dues-sucking people” and claims they end up making more money than company owners. Wow, talk about biting the hand that feeds! The video concludes by labeling Trump as “anti-union” and “anti-worker.” And you know what? It’s hard to argue with that when you see it straight from the horse’s mouth.
Trump may have tried to win over union workers during his presidency, but the Biden campaign isn’t going to let him forget his less-than-flattering opinions of them. Union workers have traditionally leaned towards the Democrats, and Biden wants to make sure it stays that way. The GOP, however, has been making a play for these voters in battleground states like Ohio, Michigan, and Pennsylvania.
Now, Biden isn’t just sitting back and letting Trump steal his thunder. He’s been actively courting union workers, even becoming the first president to speak on a picket line during a United Auto Workers strike in Detroit. Talk about showing up for your people! Biden told the workers to “stick with it,” and it seems like they’re sticking with him too.
It’s clear that Biden is working hard to gain the support of the labor unions. While the UAW has yet to make an endorsement for the 2024 race, its President, Shawn Fain, has already made it clear that Trump won’t be getting their endorsement. Fain called Trump bad for workers, and it doesn’t seem like he has any plans to endorse Biden either. But hey, at least Biden is speaking their language and making an effort. That’s got to count for something, right?
All in all, Biden’s campaign strategy is putting Trump’s own words on blast, and it’s a smart move. By reminding union workers of what Trump really thinks of them, Biden is hoping to keep them in his corner. Will it work? Only time will tell, but it’s clear that Biden isn’t backing down without a fight. And as a conservative writer, it’s refreshing to see a president who’s willing to roll up his sleeves and fight for the American worker. Keep it up, Biden!
